What
makes Usborne Books so special? [Top of Page]
First, and foremost, the philosophy of Peter Usborne, our
founder:
"Children are
clever--they are our equals. We shouldn't talk down to them, but look
across at them.
Books should be friendly, and as much like magnets as possible.
They should be reliable and accurate, stylish and artistic.
They should be accessible, and also surprising and provocative.
Books should help get you off your couch so you're not just sitting there
watching t.v. and chewing gum.
They should promote wondering.
They should be better than good."
Usborne Books are written with humor, surprise, and drama. Their outstanding
illustrations make them irresistible! The books are of excellent quality with
sewn and glued bindings and 80 lb. acid free paper. They cover a wide selection
of subjects and are very affordable, starting at $4.95. Our catalog includes
over 1,200 choices - books (in various bindings), CDs, kid kits, and puzzles that challenge readers and make
learning fun—and 80% of the titles are under $10!
What
does a Consultant do? [Top of Page]
Most consultants get started with home shows—they are informal and fun! A
hostess invites her friends and family to see the books. As a consultant, you
set up a display of the books, demonstrate their unique details, then sit back—they
sell themselves! You take orders that night and the hostess collects orders from
people who cannot attend. The hostess earns lots of free and discounted
books and you earn 25% of the retail sales as your commission. You can also earn
up to 5% more in monthly bonuses!
How
can I sell Usborne Books? [Top of Page]
We have many opportunities to market our products with Usborne Books at
Home.
Home Show Sales -
You go to a hostess’ home, set up a display of books, give a brief description
of the books, and let the guests browse and order books.
Direct Sales - You sell
directly to individuals or groups.
Booths - You can
set up a display of books at craft fairs, bazaars, etc. and introduce lots of
families to these incredible books!
Catalog Party - A hostess borrows books and
catalogs, collects orders and brings them to you - great for people who work
full time. Same commission as home shows.
Book Fairs - You set
up a display of books for a private or public school, hospital, daycare,
preschool, homeschool group, etc. and collect orders.
Fund Raisers - Any
group can sell from the Usborne glossy fund raiser flyer and will receive 50% of
the sales in cash.
Educational Services
- You present workshops to teachers and sell directly to schools and libraries
(private and public K-12).
*Note: You CANNOT sell (book fair, fundraiser, direct sale) to a school or
library (except preschools) until you become an Educational Consultant. You do
this by purchasing the $20 Educational Consultant Kit on the supply order form,
review the manual, and send in the proper paperwork.
How
Much Does a Consultant Make? [Top of Page]
It depends on how many hours you are willing to work and most importantly,
your attitude. Once you build up your business, you work fewer hours for a
potentially unlimited income! Leaders in our company earn over $60,000 a year.
Most consultants start out with home shows. A new consultant averages
$65-$75
a home show for a few hours of work. Multiply that by the number of nights you
are willing to work per month and you can get a rough estimate of how much you
will make. As soon as you sell your first $1000 net, you are eligible for a
monthly bonus of 5%!
How

How
do I become a supervisor? [Top of Page]
